Spring Term 1

DT - Making Baby Bears Chair
In our DT lessons we have been learning about what a structure is and what properties astable structure would have. We realised that a stable structure needs to be strong, solid and to not have any bends or fall over. We then had a go at trying to make our own freestanding chair that would be suitable for Baby bear. We had to roll pieces of paper into cylinders before bending them and taping them together to make the chair. We enjoyed using the masking tape and realised that we had to adapt our ideas as some of our legs collapsed.

Year 2 PE Gymnastics
In our PE lessons over the last few weeks we have been learning about the different shapes our bodies can make and how if we tense our muscles, it will help us to hold our balance.
We have also spent some time using the different apparatus in the hall in our PE lessons and Miss Parmley challenged us with thinking about how we can move our bodies through, over, under and on top of the different apparatus. We then were given the challenge of trying to hold a balance of our own choice on the apparatus.

Year 2 Victorian Schools in the Past Workshop
On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have Mr Cooke from Those History People who came to our school who carried out a Victorian Schools in the past work shop with us. We spent the first part of the morning in a Victorian classroom and had a quick sample of some lessons that Victorian children would have experienced.

Then we spent the 2nd part of the morning visiting a Victorian museum looking at variety of different artefacts from the Victorian times including some toys Victorian children would have used and things they would have used at school.
